Male Genital Rejuvenation – Lavanya Clinic

Male Genital Rejuvenation

Appearance of the male genitalia is linked with self-esteem and sexual identity. Aesthetic surgery of the male genitalia serves to correct perceived deficiencies as well as physical deformities, which may cause psychological distress. The most commonly requested procedures in men are penile girth enhancement and penile length enlargement surgeries in order to give a more youthful appearance to these areas. Other procedures include inflatable implants to correct pathological impotency, correction of penoscrotal webbing and testicular implants.

Circumcision

Circumcision is the surgical removal of the skin covering the tip of the penis. For some families, circumcision is a religious ritual. Circumcision can also be a matter of family tradition, personal hygiene o,r preventive health care. For others, however, circumcision seems unnecessary or disfiguring. Circumcision is a personal decision whthatany men make later in life for various reasons. Some men find that a tight foreskin can be uncomfortable or even painful. Some feel that they have too much foreskin or recurrent infection. Others, simply prefer the appearance of a circumcised penis. After circumcision, it isn’t generally possible to re-create the appearance of an uncircumcised penis and therefore one should be certain that circumcision is right for them before proceeding. Dr. Goyal will discuss the implications of circumcision surgery with you during consultation.

Many men are bothered by poorly performed circumcision. Common problems include uneven or prominent scars, suture marks, and uneven, excessive, or tethered skin. In some cases, usually following a circumcision performed as an adult, too much skin has been removed leading to uncomfortable or painful erections and intercourse. A nicely performed circumcision can avoid these problems. Fortunately, there are solutions to repair circumcisions and many of our patients express satisfaction and a great relief after finally having had these issues dealt with.

Circumcision might have various health benefits, including easier hygiene, less risk of urinary tract infections, prevention of penile problems, and decreased risk of penile cancer. In addition, cervical cancer is less common in the female sexual partners of circumcised men. Circumcision doesn’t affect fertility, nor is circumcision generally thought to enhance or detract from sexual pleasure for men or their partners. In most cases, the procedure may be performed using local anesthesia and it will take under an hour to complete. You will be asked to keep the area dry for 3 days. The sutures will dissolve on their own within about 3 weeks. You will need to refrain from sexual intercourse for 6 weeks following your procedure.

Two highly specialized Male Genital Surgery Procedures

Penile Length Enlargement Surgery

Approximately one-third to one-half of the penis is inside the body and is integrally attached to the undersurface of the pubic bone by the suspensory ligament. Lengthening is achieved by a procedure that releases the suspensory ligament, thereby allowing the penis to be advanced toward the outside of the body to give a longer physical appearance. A patient can anticipate a typical gain of 2–3 cm. The procedure is performed through an incision located in the pubic region within the pubic hair. No incision is made on the penis itself. The procedure has rare but some side effects including loss or decrease of sensation. Pubic liposuction / pubic lift or correction of peno scrotal web can be performed in conjunction with penile lengthening to expose more of the penis. Lastly, the use of a penis stretching device following the surgery is necessary to achieve the best possible results from penis lengthening surgery.

Penile Girth Enlargement Surgery

Penile Length Enhancement or Penile Girth Enhancement Surgery Method involves injection of your own purified fat cells beneath the skin of penis, to achieve penis girth enhancement. Dermal or dermal fat grafts may also be used to increase penile girth which provides better and more predictable enhancement in girth of penis. Key to a good result is creation of a symmetric cylinder with increased girth at all aspects, but this is very difficult. The procedure has very rare but some side effects including decrease of sensation, scarring, and deformation.

Correction of Penoscrotal Web

A penoscrotal web is caused by scrotal skin extending onto the undersurface of the penile shaft. This results in a loss of definition of the penoscrotal angle. Some men find this unsightly and want the web removed. For others, the skin can be so excessive it can interfere with intercourse or even the ability to use a condom. Penoscrotal webbing can occur as a result of circumcision or it may be present since birth. A penoscrotal web can be improved by a procedure that lengthens the midline of the web, allowing it to settle back towards the scrotum. A single or double Z-plasty releases and elongates this skin, making the penis appear longer and untethered to the scrotum. In some cases, excess skin will be removed. This procedure can be performed under local anesthesia if it is a small web, but larger webs requiring skin removal are best dealt with under general anesthesia. You will be asked to keep the area dry for 5 days following surgery and the sutures will dissolve on their own within 3 weeks.

Testicular Implants

A testicular implant can help to restore the normal appearance of the scrotum if you have lost one or both testicles due to a medical condition or surgical removal. This can happen from surgery for cancer, accidental injury, twisting, or lack of development of a normal testis. Testicular implants are important not only for cosmetic reasons but can also to improve a man’s quality of life. Testicular implants may also be an appropriate choice for children born with undescended testicles or torsion. Testicular implants are placed in a small surgical procedure that takes 30-60 minutes under anesthesia and is performed on a daycare basis. During the procedure, a testicular implant is inserted through a small incision in the scrotum. The implant is a similar shape and texture to a normal testicle and is generally filled with silicone. The implants come in several sizes and can be matched to the other side. The scar will be very inconspicuous. In children, a smaller implant will likely need to be replaced by a larger implant as the child grows. The aesthetic results are positively affecting the psychological well-being and self-confidence of men who have had a testicular removal for different reasons.

Inflatable Implants

Penile implants are devices placed inside the penis to allow men with erectile dysfunction (ED) to get an erection. You might consider penile implants if you aren't a candidate for other treatments or you can't get an erection sufficient for sexual activity by using other methods. The placement of penile implants requires surgery. There are two main types of penile implants, semi rigid and inflatable. Each type of penile implant works differently and has various pros and cons. Inflatable devices; the most common type of penile implant used, can be inflated to create an erection and deflated at other times. An implanted pump in the groin or scrotum can be manipulated by hand to fill these cylinders from an implanted reservoir in order to achieve an erection. Your surgeon will choose the correct size implant and place the implant cylinders inside the penis. All sizes are customized to your exact body measurements. Once the device is in place, your surgeon will close the incisions. Penile implant surgery usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. Penile implant is a highly effective therapy for erectile dysfunction resistant to all conservative options, and that high patient/partner satisfaction rates can be achieved.
