Nipple & Areola Surgery

Inverted nipples are those nipples that cannot be seen protruding from the breast. They normally appear as a slit or a hole in the breast where the nipple is naturally placed. Most often this is a congenital defect but can also occur as a result of scarring or infections in the duct or even an earlier breast surgery. It could also be due to a lack of tissue at the base of the nipple or retraction of the milk ducts in the nipple. Women find that the inverted nipple is disfiguring and often embarrassing. Inverted Nipple Correction Surgery is a simple solution to restore inverted nipples to their original shape and position. The results are very natural appearing nipples that have normal sensation and projection.

Areola Correction Surgery

The pigmented dark area around the nipple is called the areola. In some cases, the areola of one or both sides may be enlarged or puffy. The ideal diameter of the areola may vary according to the appearance of your underlying bust and needs to look in proportion. The ideal diameter of the areola should be approximately 4.7cm. In many people, the areola can be wider than this. If this is the case, you may be suitable for an areola reduction. Areola reduction is often combined with other breast-related procedures such as reduction, lift, or augmentation. Areola reduction is most often performed under local anesthesia. The procedure involves an incision around the edges of the areola and removing a doughnut size skin from the areola. The skin surrounding this is then brought inwards in a purse string fashion to surround the areola. The incision is closed and stitched up. The procedure is quick, and simple and can be performed on both men and women and the size and shape of the breast can be greatly enhanced. Dr. Goyal will use a permanent stitch placed deeply in the tissues to prevent the widening of the areola from occurring following surgery. The scar of the incision is inconspicuous. Areola Reduction surgery can help if you are unhappy with either the size or shape of your areolas.

Nipple Reduction Surgery

Nipple reduction is purely a cosmetic procedure to reduce long, projecting and droopy nipples. Long nipples are a result of the stretching of the tissues around the nipple due to breastfeeding or over-stimulation. Enlarged nipples do not usually cause any pain. Surgery to improve the appearance of large, long, or droopy nipples can enhance the size and shape of your breasts. If you’re insecure about the size of your nipples, the dark area surrounding them, or both, request a consultation. The nipple reduction procedure performed under local anesthesia.

Expected Results

Results of your Nipples & Areola Correction reduction are permanent, however, keep in mind that your breasts may droop or sag over time as a natural result of the aging process.
