Lips Augmentation

Are your lips too thick or too full? Are your lips too thin or is the red part of the lips too narrow? Is your upper lip begun to droop? If your gums are exposed because your upper lip is lifted too high when you smile? A cosmetic procedure or plastic surgery may be able to help make your lips more beautiful and give you more self-confidence.

Soft, voluptuous and symmetrical lips are associated not only with youth and vitality but with sensuality. As you age, the skin loses elasticity, the muscles lose tone and fatty tissues in the face lose volume. These natural changes cause lengthening and sagging of upper lip, drooping of the corners of the mouth and poorly defined lip curvatures. The lower teeth, rather than upper teeth, show when the lips are slightly parted. Lines, folds and wrinkles gradually become visible, which can be very noticeable around the mouth and lips. Furrows in the nasolabial folds as well as deep “marionette lines” give a person a down turned and sad appearance. Lip enhancement or lip augmentation creates fuller, plumper lips, restores symmetry when necessary, and can reduce unsightly wrinkles around the mouth and other age-related lip features, such as deepened folds along the cheek borders, drooping at the corners of the mouth, or small vertical “smokers” lines.

dermal filler is the most commonly used method of lip augmentation. There are many types of dermal fillers that can be injected in your lips and around your mouth. But the most commonly used fillers are “hyaluronic acid fillers.” Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body. Collagen, once the most common dermal filler, is used less often today. The newer options are safer and the effects last longer.

Fat injections, dermal graft and implants are other methods to augment lips. But they aren’t used as much today because the results vary and there is a greater risk of side effects.

Lip augmentation can give a marked improvement in your appearance but its effective and safe use requires a thorough understanding of facial anatomy and an appropriate choice of filler.

Lip correction is a quick, in-office procedure that can be performed under local anesthesia with or without sedation. You can go home on the same day of your surgery & resume your normal activities right away. Initially, there will be mild swelling or bruising temporary redness, or an “over-filled” appearance to the treated area. It takes 1-2 weeks to resolve the swelling completely. The results are reasonably long-lasting, but not permanent. You may need a top-up to maintain the volume. If you choose not to repeat the treatment, your appearance will return to its original condition. But the result of Fat injection or Dermis will be lifelong.
